Volunteers Needed!


The Georgian Good Food Box is a non-profit wholesale buying club for all residents of Southern Georgian Bay. Boxes of fresh, healthy produce are packed once per month by dedicated volunteers.


We are currently in need of volunteers to staff our pick up locations on the third Wednesday of each month. Our greatest need is in Wasaga Beach at this time, but we are recruiting for all locations.


Must be able to lift 15 pounds, to assist customers with pick ups. Wasaga Beach volunteers are needed 12-2pm and 4-6pm at our location on Ramblewood Drive (Community Health Centre).  

We are also looking for a pack site coordinator with availability on the third Wednesday of each month, all day.

What is the Georgian Good Food Box?


The Georgian Good Food Box is a non-profit buying club that purchases fresh fruits and vegetables for distribution in Southern Georgian Bay monthly. Because we purchase the produce wholesale, the cost and quality are far better than that which you would purchase in a traditional grocery store. In the winter months, our large box is worth about $25 retail, and you get it for $15!!
Our boxes are ordered by the second Wednesday of each month, and packed and picked up on the third Wednesday of each month; by a team of dedicated volunteers (we have no paid staff!). Boxes are picked up at various locations throughout Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Stayner, New Lowell and Creemore.

Typical Good Food Box Contents
The basics- Potatoes, onions, carrots, apples (local to Ontario!)
Additional items (vary by month and size of box)- lettuce, peppers, berries, tomatoes, citrus, cabbage, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, bananas, pineapple

We are currently seeking volunteers for our Wasaga Beach location on the third Wednesday of the month.  We need a few dedicated volunteers to cover our pick up's that day.  Only 2 hours of your time. If you are interested, please contact us!

Annual General Meeting




The Georgian Good Food Box program is a Non-Profit Registered Corporation undertaking bulk-purchasing of high-quality fresh produce once a month, and making this food available at wholesale prices to everyone in the South Georgian Bay area.  Since our beginning in April 2004, our volunteers have packed over 36,000 boxes for local residents.


We have order depots in Clearview Township, Wasaga Beach and Collingwood, and

operate two pack locations one day each month (Collingwood and Stayner) from which the boxes are distributed or delivered.


We are particularly interested in finding members who live and/or work in the South Georgian Bay Region and have skills in the areas of:

·       Treasurer and Bookkeeping

·       Data Input

·       Communications, Media and Social Media

·       Volunteer Coordination


The Board of Directors meets monthly for approximately 1-2 hours at a time and location that is suitable to the Board Members.  Volunteer activity usually requires 2-3 hours per month on or about the third Wednesday of every month.


We strongly seek interest from individuals who represent the diversity of the people who live and work in the South Georgian Bay Region.


If you are interested in being considered for membership on the Board, or wish to help us by volunteering to assist in the program, please attend our AGM on May 21st, 2013.


Election to the Board of Directors will take place at our 2013 AGM to be held on:


May 21, 2013, 250 Erie Street Common Room, 7:00 P.M.

    Please consider me for the role of Communications, Media and Social Media, I currently do digital media design and internet marketing. I know how the web and social media trends work as well as can create powerful graphics that will attract users. I can create dynamic websites and help with the ones you currently have. I live in Barrie but used to live in Wasaga Beach and Collingwood. I always loved this organization and the service it provides. I will try to make it to the Annual meeting however transportation is difficult for me at this time. I feel with my background I would be a huge asset for your organization and would like to be considered for the role.
