About Us

Our Mission Statement is "to optimize the health of residents of South Georgian Bay through the provision of quality, fresh fruit and vegetable boxes, and to foster awareness and encourage healthy food choices by promoting the consumption of locally-grown produce."

How funding helps the community through the Georgian Good Food Box

Our produce is provided at cost:  we fund raise to help cover overhead, which is over $400 per month.

Transportation costs, the plastic liners, printing the monthly newsletter are our major costs.

There are no paid staff members in our program.

Our volunteers contribute a total of 200 hours per month, over half of that on the pack day (3rd Wednesday of each month).

Our volunteer drivers deliver over 70 boxes each month to families who cannot pick up the
30 lb bags of produce.

We either donate directly, or seek donors to help provide free boxes to fixed-income families who are given our contact information from their Public Health Nurse, social worker, clergy etc.

We cover Collingwood, Clearview (Stayner, Creemore, New Lowell) and Wasga Beach.

On April 16, 2013, we celebrated our 9th anniversary in the South Georgian Bay Region.

As of September 19th, 2012, our volunteers have packed 34,686 boxes over the past 102 months.

  1. Just curious if there are organizations like this in the Brampton or surrounding areas.

  2. Hi Ray, yes there are over 75 GGFB programs throughout the Province. You might try Food Share Toronto as a place to start. Here is the link: http://www.foodshare.net/good-food-box

  3. Hi there, I am wondering if your products are non-GMO crops?

    1. Hi Kay, We are not certified organic and source our food through San Filippo Wholesale in Collingwood, who uses the Ontario Food Terminal. All of our potatoes, apples, onions and carrots are local items; the apples from Glen Huron and the rest from Southern Ontario. Would you be interested in an organic box? And if so, what price point would be reasonable? Food Share Toronto offers many of these options, for comparison's sake. www.foodshare.net./good-food-box.
